Spend a sweet moment mixing purrs and caresses while drinking a good tea, that’s what offers Twink Teathe first cat bar to open its doors Essone. Located in the city center of Yerres, Marine welcomed its first customers on March 25, 2022.
Cats that have already made their mark
“I immediately had a lot of people, families but also elderly people who came to spend a warm moment”, relates the young woman who did the decoration herself in order to create “an atmosphere between the Parisian brasserie and The British Tea Room »
Inside, Ulysse, 4 years old and Isis, 12 years old wander around the tea room as they please, sometimes taking advantage of the special shelves and perch to gain height, sometimes of the human presence to receive caresses.
The third feline of the gang, Hermès prefers to stay upstairs where the cats have a room dedicated solely to them.
Snacks and purring therapy
“I orally warn customers who arrive of the charter to keep for the respect of cats”, explains Marine. It is therefore forbidden to wear them or to disturb them if they are sleeping.
“Toys are available for visitors to have fun with the cats if they want to,” says the manager who highlights the benefits, proven by science, of purring therapy and animal mediation.
On the menu, visitors can choose between different teas and local infusions, homemade sweets, frozen mochi (Japanese dessert), savory bagels or even gourmet drinks named after the residents of the lounge.
Felines proposed for some for adoption
“It is also possible to buy tea to take home,” says Marine, who is about to welcome two new two-year-old cats and a nine-month-old kitten.
Cats that will be offered for adoption in conjunction with the local association Ecole du Chat Libre.
“It’s something close to my heart,” says the young woman who has long been a host family for the association, especially when she was a teacher.
A professional retraining
“After the death of my sister from the consequences of Covid-19, I felt the desire to completely change my profession to create my own business”, says the 28-year-old Essonnienne who took a year and a half to concretize her project.
“We had to do different training courses, look for funding, but also find premises. For me Yerres is the right place, being myself from Val d’Yerres.
It was difficult to achieve in the midst of a pandemic but I have no regrets, on the contrary I am enthusiastic and optimistic for the future, ”says Marine, who hopes to get her business off the ground in the coming months.
Work rooms for rent within the establishment
“I am looking for trainees to support me on a daily basis and to be able to open the tea room also at lunchtime as well as to offer more things à la carte”.
To diversify her activity, the young entrepreneur is also a relay point for Kru, a brand offering food for cats.
It also offers the rental of rooms (three, of different sizes) for therapists practicing alternative medicine or people who need an office to work.
“It remains in the spirit and the concept of well-being of the places. The therapists can welcome their clients there in a setting that is both pleasant and comfortable,” she concludes.
